As an immediate outcome of Sindh Investment Delegationís visit to UAE, Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) in collaboration with Agriculture Department has organized Dubai Mango Festival in UAE from 13 to 16 June, 2012. The event was a consequence of meetings held between Agriculture Department, Government of Sindh and various retailers in UAE on the sidelines of AIM 2012.

The event promoted Pakistanís wide range of mangoes in the local market by the setting up of special outlets at various shopping centers to enable residents enjoy a variety of desserts made from mangoes grown in Pakistan.

The festival was inaugurated at Jumairah Emirates Tower Hotel in Dubai and three day promotional campaign was held at selected stores namely Al-Maya Supermarket, Unifruitti (Carrefour) and Lulu Hypermarket in UAE where mangoes were displayed and sold.

The objective of Dubai Mango Festival 2012 was to penetrate the local markets by offering consumers a taste of Pakistani mangoes, which can compete with other varieties available in the local market.

Around 500 tons of mangoes were sold in two week all around UAE after successful marketing of Pakistani Mangoes in the event. The buyers witnessed the price escalating of Pakistan Mangoes AED 3.65 per Kg to AED 7.5 per Kg.

The Sindhri mango remained in focus as one of the most favourite mango varieties and much sought-after variety from among 50 others grown in Pakistan.

The exporters received bulk quantity orders for export of Mangoes to M/S Al-Maya Supermarket & M/S Unifruitti (Carrefour) as per market demand.
